Despite this, many times it is conceived as the inevitable "yoke" that allows us to meet financial commitments acquired, keep the family, pay the car, college, etc .- and reach our dreams concrete future and desires, how to get to owning your own home or retire with a good pension. In other cases, this is added the desire for increasing income, status and power, whether in our workplace or in our professional field.
It is rare to perceive work as the task that also gives us the opportunity to feel creative and productive, as well as to grow and provide the environment in which we live through what we really enjoy doing. The humanistic psychologist Abraham Maslow said that in humans there is an innate tendency to get the most out of their own talents and potential, which came to be considered a necessity of self-realization. In this sense, the work becomes an even broader scale, an important, if you will, transcendental nature in our lives.
The social demands
Despite this, and usually self-realization in work is not so simple. Men have been taught to be masculine, and that involves choosing an occupation or profession "of man." The various social stereotypes that often are seen as unique, if not strange that a man consider, for example, Early Childhood Education, or act in any other profession conceived socially "women."
Something similar can happen when we discover that a woman, especially if we find it very feminine and sexy, study, for example, Heavy Mechanical. The impact of social demands which often does not hear those voices that tell us about our true vocations and skills, making often choose the wrong way, and thereby decreasing the chances of enjoying all the satisfaction that the work has to offer.
This often happens even in cases where the person has chosen the right profession or trade, but does not work in the field of choice, but one in which they earn more money.
Working conditions
The workplace and work environment also play a role in self-realization. In recent years, various companies around the world have come to realize that the quality of their production processes more dependent on human beings technology available to them. In some countries like Japan, which are leading in the field of Administration and Organization Theory, they realized that even if implemented change processes as redesign, total quality and reengineering, not obtained the expected results.
Then were given the task of "humanizing" the organizations and companies, focusing its efforts on providing its employees the conditions for the development of skills such as creativity, taking initiative, teamwork ability, the ability proposals and the sensitivity to discover their inner potential and exploitation in the workplace. Within the results, there is a greater enjoyment of work and a significant reduction in stress levels in people.
